Slow North's clean aesthetic helped garner attention of major retailers.

I led the concept, design, and implementation of the Slow North brand, including logo, packaging, website, brochures, and more. The high quality of Slow North's handmade, natural products along with its dedication to a clean, modern aesthetic has garnered coveted spots in the online and brick-and-mortar retail world. Major retail brands such as Marriott Courtyard, Brit + Co, and Anthropologie have all placed orders for inclusion in their retail business(es).

Slow North's all natural, handmade product and minimal style has won features in well-known media.

I worked with my wife (who is the founder and president of Slow North) to develop the identity and packaging into a full-fledged lifestyle brand. She has a background in photography, and we often talk about our complementary skill sets in the area of branding. We're proud to say that media mentions happened without a PR agency or any kind of formal outreach. These were unsolicited, unpaid features. We believe that we were recognized for our focus on delivering products that are natural, high quality, and beautiful.

A minimal design aesthetic connects with consumers overwhelmed by today's hyper-branded world.

Based on direct feedback from shoppers across the country, we've found that the market for natural products is large. It's also undervalued by the retail community as a whole. Consumers are clear that they will purchase healthy products, especially when those products are given a thoughtful, intentional aesthetic.

The success of Slow North's initial product line has enabled the company to expand into other all natural products.

With the opening of its first brick-and-mortar store in August 2017, Slow North is enjoying healthy support from a community of makers, learners, and shoppers.

I helped Slow North create the layout, aesthetic, and flow of the retail shop. It's been open for just over a year and it's helped the company connect not just with shoppers, but with people who want to learn how to make similar products. Slow North hosts weekly events where members of the Austin community can come in and learn how to make candles, jewelry, ceramics, and more. It's helped solidify the company and given us another avenue to connect with people in an open, welcoming environment.

Consistent, minimal branding has led to partnerships with major retail brands such as Anthropologie
